The Taiwanese fishing boat 'Da Jin Man 88' was seized by Chinese coast guard near Jinjiang, mainland China for fishing during China's fishing moratorium. The Taiwanese captain and 4 foreign crew members were taken to Weitou Port for detention. The Taiwanese Coast Guard urgently responded to the incident but were not allowed to approach due to Chinese vessels outnumbering them. The Coast Guard urges China to not politicize the issue and swiftly release the boat and crew. This incident highlights escalating tensions in the region as Chinese vessels have become more assertive in enforcing fishing regulations, even interfering with Japanese fishing boats near the Diaoyu Islands, prompting a warning for vessels passing through Taiwanese waters to be vigilant.
