Formosa-related company officially introduced Guatemalan coffee production last year for coffee bags and marketing, emphasizing at a joint meeting in New York with over 600 U.S. and Canadian Taiwanese businesses. Minister Lin Jia-long urged support for Guatemala's coffee imports ban protest by China, following the sanctions on Guatemalan coffee and Hawaiian beans after Guatemala's visit to Taiwan in May 2023. The Economic Ministry suggested North American Taiwanese businesses buy Guatemalan coffee to support Taiwan's ally, distributing Guatemalan coffee stalls at the event. Minister Lin connected with overseas Taiwanese business groups to assist in purchasing Guatemalan coffee following the economic sanctions against Guatemala. Lin advocated for Taiwanese businesses to support Guatemala by actively buying its coffee, promoting at the event where Taiwanese companies imported Guatemalan coffee. The North American Taiwanese Business Association has played a crucial role in Taiwan-U.S.-Canada economic and diplomatic relations, engaging in forums on AI technology and trade this year, with a significant year of achievements in enhancing Taiwan-U.S. exchanges and facilitating bilateral cooperation.
