A 50-year-old man surnamed Ji in Taichung City stole a $50,000 'Buddha and Demon Unity' gold pendant from a jewelry store in Dali District, then attempted to steal from another store 50 meters away but failed. He later sold the pendant at another store through a taxi, making about $45,000 before being arrested by the police in Wuchi in the evening. The pendant's symbolic meaning of 'one thought becomes a Buddha, one thought becomes a demon' left many astonished. Ji, a habitual thief, was tracked down by the police following this incident.
