Cheng Wen-tsang, former mayor of Taoyuan, Taiwan, was released on bail of 5 million New Taiwan Dollars after being suspected of corruption, shocking the political scene. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) confirmed that their Ethical Committee will investigate the case in a meeting scheduled for the following evening. If violations of ethical conduct are found, recommendations for warnings, suspension, or expulsion can be made to the DPP's Central Standing Committee according to their internal rules.
