Taiwan Mobile, one of the three major telecom companies in Taiwan, declared ex-dividend today with each share receiving a cash dividend of 4.3 TWD, totaling approximately 13.05 billion TWD to be distributed by the end of July. The stock price plummeted by 9.5 TWD to a low of 102 TWD in early trading, facing the pressure of going ex-dividend. Investors had ramped up buying Taiwan Mobile and Far EasTone shares before the ex-dividend dates last week. Despite a surge in buying interest just a week ago, Taiwan Mobile's stock price dropped significantly today post-ex-dividend, indicating a shift in investor sentiment.
