Taiwan Mobile's Second Extension Request for Spectrum Return Deadline Rejected Again by NCC

Reported 9 months ago

On June 27, 2024, the National Communications Commission (NCC) rejected Taiwan Mobile's second extension request for the spectrum return deadline. Last year, NCC approved the merger between Taiwan Mobile and Far EasTone, requiring them to correct bandwidth overages by June 30, 2024. While Far EasTone has already returned the excess spectrum, Taiwan Mobile's recent request for an extension was rejected, mandating them to return 10MHz of spectrum below 1GHz by June 30. NCC emphasized the importance of complying with regulations for industry development and fair competition, warning of penalties if Taiwan Mobile fails to meet the deadline.
