CTWANT reported that the National Communications Commission (NCC) announced they would impose penalties under the 'Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area' if Mainland Chinese media interferes with the production of TV political talk shows in Taiwan. The NCC is currently investigating the situation and has requested a response from the Association of Public Television Stations. If any violations are confirmed, the heaviest punishment could result in a broadcasting suspension with fines ranging from 20,000 to 200,000 NT dollars under the Satellite Broadcasting and Television Act. The Ministry of Culture also stated that if any mainland media personnel engage in activities outside their approved scope in Taiwan, their media credentials and travel permits could be revoked and they may face legal consequences.
