According to Liberty Times Net on June 11, 2024, the Ministry of the Interior recommends against further subsidizing interest on New Youth Housing Loans to prevent them from being used as tools for speculation amid concerns about increasing property transactions. The Ministry suggests refraining from additional interest subsidies if the central bank announces a rate hike to avoid non-self-occupancy demand flooding the housing market, potentially undermining efforts to curb property prices. While the New Youth Housing Loan program has aided nearly 49,707 households in purchasing homes, totaling 364.5 billion NTD, the recent surge in transactions and prices has raised worries. In light of this, the Ministry proposes caution to prevent further inflation of housing prices due to non-self-occupancy demand inflow if interest rates rise in the future.
