Taiwan plans to increase nursing workforce by up to 70,000 in four years

Reported about 1 year ago

The Executive Yuan presented a 12-point strategy plan to enhance nursing workforce policies, aiming to achieve a healthy Taiwan by prioritizing investments in nursing manpower development. Through strategies focusing on personnel cultivation, positive workplace environments, and salary improvements, the plan aims to establish a positive cycle for nursing retention in hospitals and maximize licensed nurse practitioners. By 2023, an estimated 56,000 to 70,000 additional nursing staff are expected, with measures including increased nursing positions, enhanced exam content, and incentives for hospitals meeting nurse-to-patient ratios. Efforts to address work-life balance issues and increase retention by rewarding night shift staff are also highlighted in the plan.
