At a legislative inquiry at the Legislative Yuan on June 25, 2024, Taiwan Power Company clarified that while they will no longer absorb the electricity subsidies for schools and social welfare organizations, the frozen rates for these vulnerable groups will remain unchanged. Taiwan Power will request relevant ministries to allocate budget for the electricity price difference previously covered by the company. This decision has undergone consensus coordination by the Executive Yuan, and adjustments in budget allocation will be considered by various ministries. Additionally, if the Legislative Yuan approves the additional budget of 100 billion NT dollars for electricity price subsidies, along with the price increase in April and the decrease in international energy prices, Taiwan Power is expected to break even this year without incurring losses.
