In an exclusive interview with Time magazine on June 13, President Tsai Ing-wen expressed that the window for renegotiating the Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement has passed, as many Taiwanese businesses have left China, causing significant differences in their economies. Tsai emphasized the importance of a stable China contributing to a secure Taiwan, and a prosperous Taiwan driving progress in China. While Taiwan's economic ties with China have weakened, Taiwan's economy has grown without being adversely affected by China's economic downturn. Tsai also discussed Taiwan's important role in the global semiconductor supply chain and asserted that the semiconductor industry's global distribution should not lead to increased conflict due to geopolitical shifts.
