On June 17, 2024, the Taiwan Progressive Party filed a lawsuit against Huang Kuo-chang for allegedly violating the Personal Information Protection Act, claiming that Huang helped the owner of 'Guanzhang' Chen Zhihan check on a job applicant’s criminal record, which was deemed illegal. The party asserts that Huang's actions may have constituted an abuse of his legislative powers. Although Huang rebutted the allegations on Facebook, the party's secretary general Wu Hsin-dai emphasized that accessing criminal records without authorization violates privacy rights and aims to prevent the misuse of personal information. Wu criticized Huang for potentially exploiting legal knowledge to overstep boundaries and push his own agenda, highlighting the importance of upholding social justice and human rights principles behind such laws.
