As of June 18, 2024, Donggang Fishing Association in Pingtung, Taiwan, announced a record-breaking 6425 tunas caught, attributing it to a successful conservation of Pacific tunas and the unique occurrence of three full moons during the fishing season. Fishermen believe that the bright moonlight attracted more fish to the surface, resulting in a bountiful catch. Along with natural factors, the increased tuna quota and global conservation efforts indicate a rise in tuna population, sparking discussions on the impact of the moon on fishing success.
