During a legislative session, Huang Kuo-chang, a legislator from the People First Party, revealed that the Lanyang Command of Taiwan's Army installed a solar power generation system in its Red Chailin military base, with the contractor using inverters manufactured in China in violation of the defense contract requirements. Minister of National Defense, Gu Li-hsiung, assured that the Military Supplies Bureau will conduct a thorough investigation and enforce penalties as per the contract terms for the 44 problematic inverters identified to be of German brand SMA but made in China. Huang urged the Ministry of National Defense to verify if other military units using solar power systems also have Chinese-made components installed by the same contractor.
