As Taiwan enters typhoon season in July, the Central Weather Bureau estimates that there have been fewer typhoons generated in the northwest Pacific compared to the climate average, with only 2 so far this year. They predict a total of 2 to 4 typhoons will be near Taiwan for the latter half of the year, with the phenomenon of La Niña potentially leading to a hotter summer with typhoons forming closer to Taiwan. The Bureau forecasts above normal to normal temperatures but slightly less rainfall for July to September, urging early preparations for typhoon season and precautions against summer heat and thunderstorms.
