Taiwan's Presidential Candidates Disagree on AI Industry's Regional Development

Reported 12 months ago

Zhang Shan-cheng pointed out that Taoyuan currently hosts the largest data center in Taiwan and disclosed that an international giant will announce the establishment of a data center there next week. President Lai Ching-te advocated for the gradual placement of AI-related industries in Kaohsiung and the southern region, aiming to balance development in Taiwan. However, Taoyuan Mayor Zhang Shan-cheng disagreed with the idea of regional relocation, stating that AI development should be spread across Taiwan, and emphasized the diverse potential for AI industries from north to south on a global scale. Zhang also highlighted Taoyuan's leading role in data center infrastructure and its future prospects in AI applications.
