Taiwan's Surrounding Ocean Turns Purple! Experts Warn of Sustained High Temperatures: Hotter Than Previous Days

Reported 12 months ago

On July 2, 2024, a report by Huang Yiting from the Life Center of SET News at 8:15 am noted that a sea temperature distribution map indicated Taiwan's surrounding waters were 'so hot they turned purple.' The day was mostly cloudy to clear, with scattered brief showers in the southeast, Hengchun Peninsula, and central and southern regions in the morning, followed by vigorous convection development in the afternoon. Temperatures across the island ranged from 33 to 37 degrees Celsius, with the highest at 38.4 degrees in Nangan Field, Yunlin County. The sea temperatures around Taiwan reached 30 to 31 degrees, with warmer waters surrounding the island leading to less effective air-sea temperature regulation, resulting in sustained high land temperatures. Tomorrow, Taiwan will experience mostly sunny to partly cloudy weather, with high temperatures ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius in the western parts and 32 to 34 degrees Celsius in the eastern parts, with strong UV radiation around noon. People are advised to take precautions against sunburn and heatstroke by staying hydrated and protecting themselves from the sun. For more information, please visit: [原文連結].
