Taiwanese mainstream tea emphasizes on high fragrance or unique flavors to attract customers. Due to the high cost and limited production, commercial tea materials often rely on imported tea. Taiwan Tea Research and Extension Station has developed a new variety, 'Taiwan Tea No. 26,' which is suitable for commercial tea production with high content of non-free catechins and caffeine. It aims to increase the use of Taiwanese tea in beverage market, potentially replacing imports, with advantages like strong growth, high yield, and suitability for mechanical harvesting.
