Taiwan Television Criticized for Repeated Mishaps at Golden Melody Awards, Ministry of Culture to Conduct Full Review and Hold Accountable

Reported 12 months ago

During the 35th Golden Melody Awards last Saturday, various mishaps, such as singer MC HotDog experiencing microphone issues and the official Facebook page omitting singer Banai's mention of 'Tiananmen,' sparked criticism. Ministry of Culture Minister Lee Yuen-ching revealed that due to the hefty hosting costs, Taiwan Television (TTV) has been the sole bidder for the awards yearly, leading to calls for a comprehensive review and accountability. Members of the Legislative Yuan's Education and Culture Committee expressed concerns during a special session with Lee, questioning TTV's repeated mishaps despite being the long-time host, and urging a more inclusive bidding process and better event management moving forward.
