Taiwan to Change Priority Seats to Reserved Seats; Netizens Criticize: Playing with Words, Color of Seats and Icons Should Also Change

Reported 9 months ago

The Ministry of Health and Welfare in Taiwan announced plans to amend the Disability Rights Act by renaming 'Priority Seats' to 'Reserved Seats' and changing the priority passengers from 'elderly, weak, women, and children' to 'other actual needers' in response to recent disputes over these seats. However, netizens criticized the move as superficial, stating that changing the name was insignificant and questioning the effectiveness of the change. Some suggested that if the concept of 'Reserved Seats' is to be properly implemented, the colors distinguishing these seats should be removed and the icons on the seats should be updated.
