On June 15, 2024, Taiwan and the US had a frequent interaction with a recent rare official visit between the two countries. Kathleen Lively, the US Consul General in Melbourne, invited Lü Mingze, the head of Taiwan's office in Melbourne, to attend the US Independence Day reception, and a rare photo of the two was shared on the US Embassy's social media. This marked the first official invitation from the US after a prior meeting earlier this year, aiming to strengthen the US-Australia-Taiwan ties in the Indo-Pacific region.
