The Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics announced that the average regular monthly salary for all employees in Taiwan from January to April was 46,105 TWD, but when including bonuses and irregular pay like overtime, the total average salary reached over 63,000 TWD. This sparked criticism, with many questioning the credibility of the data. Premier Su Tseng-chang addressed these concerns during a question and answer session, acknowledging the need for a more accurate calculation method to better reflect the reality faced by a majority of the population earning less than 50,000 TWD.
