In May last year, Taiwanese naturalized basketball player Davis, playing for the PLG New Taipei Kings, got into a physical altercation with his ex-wife in front of a police station over disagreements about visitation time with their child. The altercation resulted in his ex-wife sustaining hand injuries, leading to a domestic violence charge against him. The court sentenced Davis to 30 days in jail for the assault, causing his team to suspend him from playing for the rest of the season, including the playoffs. Davis' emotional outbursts were not unprecedented, as his ex-wife had previously applied for a protective order in their divorce proceedings.
