Lu Hong-chieh, a 61-year-old Taiwanese businessman and founder of the Umu Art Museum in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, unexpectedly passed away with his family questioning the cause of death and receiving only a cremation proof without a death certificate. Lu had expressed difficulty in transferring assets back to Taiwan before his untimely death two months later, leading to suspicions over the circumstances. The Mainland Affairs Council has responded, stating that Lu died in an accident involving power machinery, and they will assist his family in completing the death certificate notarization process and inheritance issues in Mainland China.
