Taiwanese City Councilor Lin Yanzhu exposed that staff at a crematorium in Tainan were allegedly embezzling gold teeth and artificial joints from the deceased, making illegal gains of up to 2 million NTD over six months. It was revealed that these valuable metals were flowing into jewelry stores for resale, but when questioned, the jewelers denied involvement. The incident has raised concerns about the fate of the deceased's gold teeth, with sources indicating that crematorium staff would sell the items for extra income after cremation. Lin urged that if the relatives don't need these items, they should be collected and proceeds donated to Tainan's funeral service department. However, the jewelry stores denied these claims, stating they only accept items with traceable origins to maintain gold purity, highlighting the questionable practices at the crematoriums.
