A city councilor in Tainan revealed that two crematoriums in the city have been allegedly selling unsold rare metals such as gold teeth and artificial joints harvested from cremated bodies, making over 2.38 million TWD within six months. This led to an investigation by the anti-corruption agency, with the city government strengthening inspection measures. The incident, discovered following a similar case in New Taipei City, raised concerns about respecting the deceased and reforming crematorium management practices.
