Taiwanese Jewelry Store Thief Caught After 1.5-Hour Escape in Taxi

On June 7, 2024, in Taichung City, Taiwan, a jewelry store in Dali District was robbed in the afternoon. The thief pretended to buy jewelry, stole a gold pendant when the owner was distracted, and fled in a taxi. The thief, a known criminal in his 50s, was caught in Wuci by the police post-robbery. He was recognized by local businesses and targeted the store by pretending to make a purchase. The stolen pendant was recovered, and the thief will be charged with theft.
