A recall action initiated by a civic group to oust Keelung City Mayor Xie Guoliang is currently in its second phase of signature collection, with unexpected assistance from Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) city councilors in providing signing services at their offices. This prompted criticism from Kuomintang lawmaker Li Yanxiu, who accused the DPP of manipulating the recall movement to regain a parliamentary majority. As the recall effort gains momentum, it is revealed that the DPP plans to extend the action to legislators. Li Yanxiu condemned President Lai Ching-te as a reckless gambler and highlighted the DPP's ulterior motives behind the recalls as serving the party's interests over public welfare.
