In 2022, Taiwanese man Shen Weichen drove the yacht 'Aquarius 1' with 3 Chinese crew members to transport approximately 842.2 kilograms of meth worth around 8.2 billion NTD near the Gulf of Thailand. The Supreme Court upheld the second-instance verdict, sentencing Shen to 8 years and 2 months, and the crew members to 7 to 12 years and 6 months. The entire case is final. Shen and others conspired to smuggle meth, with Shen identified as the handler, and they were intercepted by Coast Guard Administration upon returning to Taiwan. The verdict mentioned their smuggling route and the intercepted drugs.
