On June 18, (G)I-DLE's Taiwanese member Shuhua returned to Taiwan for an endorsement event and attended a birthday celebration for the daughter of actress Chia Ching-Wen. However, a group photo from the event stirred controversy on Chinese social media, with Shuhua labeled as a pro-Taiwan independence artist and calls for her removal from the group. This outrage led to Taiwanese netizens expressing frustration over the situation, mentioning the treatment of Chou Tzu-yu in the past due to her Taiwanese nationality. Criticism towards Shuhua escalated on Weibo with calls for her removal and even led to demands for her agency, Cube Entertainment, to stop recruiting Taiwanese talents.
