On July 8, Lin Shijie, a director of the Fisheries Association in Tainan City, was fatally shot outside his home. The shooter set fire to the getaway vehicle, and the police are still investigating. CCTV footage showed Lin visiting a temple on July 5. Despite keeping a low profile since a bribery case, he was ambushed by the shooter while leaving for morning exercise at around 5:40 am on July 8, receiving 11 gunshot wounds and passing away despite medical efforts. Investigations on the case are ongoing.
