Former Mayor of Taoyuan and Chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council, Cheng Wen-tsang, is suspected of involvement in corruption and was taken in for questioning by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors' Office, coincidentally on his 57th birthday. This investigation comes as a confirmation of Nationalist Party legislator Hsieh Lung-chieh's prediction three months earlier that Cheng Wen-tsang would be the first to face consequences following Premier Lai Ching-te's appointment, indicating a significant turn of events. Cheng Wen-tsang has denied any wrongdoing and is cooperating with the judicial investigation to prove his innocence.
