A 50-year-old man surnamed Ji pretended to buy gold jewelry at a jewelry store in Dalii District, Taichung City, and then fled in a taxi after selecting a gold pendant worth nearly 50,000 NT$. The store owner realized the theft, alerted the police, and Ji was apprehended by Wufeng police after 1.5 hours. Police revealed Ji to be a habitual thief known to target jewelry stores in Taichung City and Dajia District recently, issuing warnings to increase vigilance in those areas.
