Three solid recovered fuel (SRF) plants planned for Taoyuan Technology Industrial Park in Taiwan are facing strong opposition from Guanyin residents, with Taoyuan City Government not in support, leaving the projects in limbo. Premier Su Tseng-chang has urged the local government to communicate more with the people and industry to reach a decisive outcome. SRF utilizes recycled waste to generate electricity, aiming to reduce coal emissions. Despite the benefits, critics fear lax regulation in Taiwan may turn the plants into 'garbage incinerators,' releasing harmful gases like dioxins, impacting residents' health and sparking protests.
