TDK Corp., a key battery supplier for Apple’s iPhones, is set to launch a new generation of silicon-anode batteries this year to meet the increasing power demands of AI-driven mobile devices. Starting mass production in late summer, these batteries promise 15% more energy capacity compared to traditional graphite-anode types. TDK's CEO, Noboru Saito, emphasizes the importance of their R&D investments while highlighting that, despite the complexity of manufacturing silicon batteries, the company aims to leverage its position in mass production. Competitors like LG and Samsung are also exploring silicon batteries' potential, particularly for electric vehicles, due to their faster charging capabilities.
