On July 4, 2024, Tesla was listed for the first time on the mainland government procurement list. The announcement from Jiangsu Government Procurement Network stated that Tesla's popular SUV model, the Model Y, was included in the local government's new energy vehicle procurement list, allowing Jiangsu province's party and government organizations, institutions, and groups to use this model. This move comes after initial security concerns had led to Tesla vehicles being restricted in certain sensitive areas in China.
