Greg Abbott, the Governor of Texas, announced on July 5 that he will lead an economic delegation to visit Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan to explore trade opportunities. This is Abbott's first visit to Taiwan since taking office as governor. The trip is organized by the Texas Governor's Economic Development and Tourism Office in collaboration with the Texas Economic Development Cooperation Department. Among the delegates are Abbott's wife, Secretary of State Jane Nelson, several Texas state representatives, and 23 business leaders. The visit aims to strengthen trade partnerships, particularly in the semiconductor industry, with South Korea and Japan, which rank as Texas' 4th and 5th largest trading partners, and Taiwan as the 7th.
