On January 10, 1995, prosecutor Zhang Jintu was ambushed and shot 12 times by two gunmen when he was asked to move a car in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The hit was orchestrated by Huang Shangfeng, a drug lord who ran a drug trafficking ring with his family. The group sold heroin and methamphetamine, making Huang a prominent figure in the drug trade. Despite the ambush, Zhang survived and underwent numerous surgeries, while authorities managed to arrest several accomplices including the hitmen and Huang's wife, but Huang had already fled to China. This case marked Taiwan's first assassinaton of a prosecutor plotted by the drug lord Huang Shangfeng.
