The Malayan tapir hero from Japan, Hideo, brought to Taiwan for an exchange program, was discovered dead upon arrival. The photo of the tapir's 2nd birthday celebration at Yokohama Zoo has now become a memorial image. The cause of death will be determined through a pathological autopsy, as both Taipei Zoo and Japanese authorities express deep sadness and regret over the incident.
