Having taken office for nearly 1 month, Transportation Minister Lee Meng-Yan attended his first inquiry at the Legislative Yuan, emphasizing on improving public transportation quality. Starting from the Chinese New Year of 2025, a 40% discount will be offered for national highway coaches during consecutive holidays. The ministry also plans to introduce TPASS 2.0 discounts for non-commuter groups, while continuing to invest in new trains to enhance transport capacity. Minister Lee expressed hopes for a 33% increase in capacity within 3 years with the new high-speed rail carriages. Additionally, the planned visit of a Chinese tour group to Matsu on June 10 was canceled, creating a stalemate, with concerns about the progress of resuming exchanges. The Ministry of Transportation Tourism Bureau clarified that the visit was postponed, not cancelled, awaiting restoration, with ongoing administrative communications between the two sides.
