President Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping concluded a significant 90-minute meeting where they declared a one-year truce to halt escalating trade tensions, pausing tariffs and reciprocal port fees. Trump announced a reduction in the US tariff on fentanyl-related goods from 20% to 10% and an overall cut in tariffs on China from 57% to 47%. Additionally, China agreed to suspend its export restrictions on rare-earth materials for a year and to purchase more US energy and soybeans. Despite the truce, continued concerns linger regarding the long-term stability of the agreements.
