Trump's fundraising surge surpasses Biden after felony conviction

Reported 11 months ago

Former President Donald Trump saw a surge in grassroots and billionaire donations following his felony conviction, allowing his campaign to exceed President Joe Biden's fundraising. By June 1, Trump's campaign bank account reached $116.6 million, surpassing Biden's $91.6 million. The increase in donations, including a $50 million contribution from banking heir Timothy Mellon, has highlighted Trump's fundraising power among small-dollar donors and billionaires. Trump and the Republican National Committee raised $141 million in May, outpacing Biden and the DNC's $81 million. Biden's campaign noted they are spending funds efficiently on campaign infrastructure despite lagging behind in fundraising.
