TSMC, while building a plant in Kaohsiung, is not only recruiting talents from the tech industry but has also caused a talent war with a screw factory in Gangshan. A 40-year-old screw factory, offering a monthly salary of 70,000 NT dollars to a mold maker, had the employee poached by TSMC for double the salary. To retain talents, the factory is actively collaborating with the Kaohsiung City Government to build worker dormitories, with some units reserved for employees to live in, and planning to offer the houses for free to employees after 15 years.
