On June 6, a 40-year-old suspect surnamed Lin was caught pretending to be a railway construction worker patrolling the tracks on the Hualien Seaport Line, a railway freight branch line with fewer train services. The suspect attempted to steal cables but was apprehended by police officers who were lying in wait. The suspect was found with tools for committing the theft including cutting and clamping tools, having stolen a total of 50 meters of cable in two theft attempts. The police reminded the public that the stolen cables are responsible for transmitting train signals and tampering with them could jeopardize safety. The suspect was captured by alert officers, showcasing the importance of vigilance and adherence to the law, as reported by PTS News.
