The U.S. Commerce Department announced a final award of up to $6.35 billion to boost chip production, granting $4.745 billion to Samsung Electronics and $1.61 billion to Texas Instruments. Samsung's funding, reduced from an earlier estimated $6.4 billion, aligns with its updated investment of $37 billion in Texas and U.S. semiconductor facilities by 2030. Texas Instruments will receive $1.6 billion for new factories to create 2,000 jobs. This is part of a broader $39 billion subsidy program approved by Congress aimed at enhancing U.S. semiconductor manufacturing.
