Factory output in the U.S. mid-Atlantic region experienced a significant slowdown in February, attributed to soaring input prices. The Philadelphia Federal Reserve reported a sharp drop in its manufacturing index, sliding to its lowest point in nearly five years, while the prices paid index surged to its highest level since October 2022. Indicators related to employment, new orders, and business expectations also showed declines.
