During a lifting operation in front of the Luodong Yonghe Temple in Yilan, Taiwan, on June 27, 2024, a high-tension nylon strap being used for lifting a Bodhisattva statue appeared to break from the weight, causing the statue to fall and break into two pieces. Suggestions to change to an iron chain were ignored, resulting in the accident. The temple is working with insurance for compensation, and a new statue is being made to replace the damaged one.
