UPS to Cut 20,000 Jobs Amid Amazon Business Decline

Reported 2 days ago

UPS announced plans to eliminate approximately 20,000 front-line jobs in 2025 due to a decline in unprofitable Amazon-related business and a major restructuring of its delivery network. The company aims to reduce Amazon volumes by over 50% by June 2026, with 60% of its current Amazon operations operating at a loss. UPS's Network of the Future strategy includes closing 200 sortation centers over five years, which is expected to save $3.5 billion in costs, while still maintaining its service capabilities for all customers.
