On the evening of June 15, 2024, a sudden island-wide power outage struck the popular tourist destination of Little Liuqiu in Pingtung, Taiwan, leaving residents and tourists in darkness as even streetlights went out. Pingtung County Chief, Zhou Chunmi, contacted Taipower Chairman Tseng Wen-sheng immediately after learning that the outage was caused by a main breaker tripping in the township, requesting additional manpower for a swift restoration. As of now, power has been restored in the Baisha Shopping Street of Benfu Village, with further updates to follow.
