The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating Amazon's self-driving Zoox vehicles for unexpected braking leading to rear-end collisions. The agency is requesting video footage and documents from Zoox concerning the incidents and stated concerns regarding the risk of crashes due to rapid braking. Zoox, acquired by Amazon in 2020, has been expanding its testing in California and Nevada, competing with Alphabet's Waymo, and has not yet commented on the investigation.
